Stockmarkets throughout the world are down more than 10% from this year’s high. We have never claimed to be able to get market timing right but there are some occasions when there seems to be value for money. This could be one of those times but don’t be surprised if there are more falls before a recovery.
Unless you are a speculator short term funds should never be invested in stocks and shares or equity funds so you must be prepared to sit tight over the medium term if necessary. However, with interest rates at the level where leaving money on deposit is in effect guaranteeing a loss when inflation is taken into account not looking closely at other investment options could cost you dearly in the medium term.
