“IT’S BEEN A BIT OF A DISASTER.” Just one client’s answer when twelve months after retirement I asked him, “How’s it going?”
Apparently his expectation of retirement and his wife’s expectations were somewhat different. He thought he was going to spend more time on his boat . . . she thought he was going to spend more time with her! “Not only that,” he told me, “she has the radio on all day and it drives me potty.”
The husband in another couple who came to me for some pre-retirement planning said, “Of course we will only need one car when I retire.”
“You mean you will be quite happy to borrow your wife’s car when it’s convenient to her?” I replied.
In less than the blink of an eye his response was, “No we will have TWO cars.”
